The purpose of the e-K.book® is to provide a lasting snapshot of all content, the links between knowledge items and access to attachments – selected from a knowledge base created using Ardans Knowledge Maker® – in the form of a website that can be viewed using a standard web browser.
This export format is used to:
- Control the dissemination of sensitive information (addressing "need-to-know" requirements, particularly in the defence sector).
- Ensure the long-term preservation of knowledge (storage of content in HTML format).
- Transfer to a phone or tablet for offline, mobile access.
- Use a knowledge base accessible via a royalty licence free browser.
- Provide a format compatible with Microsoft SharePoint sites.

- First, consider a knowledge base managed using Ardans Knowledge Maker® (AKM). The AKM base serves as the source architecture for the knowledge assets. Within this knowledge base, the future e-K.book® home page is designed with the various expected navigation paths: this home page constitutes the ‘root’ context page of the knowledge book.
- e-K.book® GENERATION
- The e-K.book® module queries the AKM knowledge base and generates the compendium by ‘clustering’ knowledge elements based on:
- - The ‘root’ context sheet, which describes a given working environment,
- - A "summary" document corresponding to a topic of organized knowledge (particularly for educational purposes),
- - The structures present (such as a taxonomy) within the AKM knowledge base.
- e-K.book® GUARANTEED PERFORMANCE
- - by reconstructing all selected knowledge elements, the fields structure, their content, and associated metadata (header information from title block—authors, dates—and record version history),
- - by taking into account advanced visualisations (computer graphics) via the composition templates generated by AKM Composer®,
- - by integrating the access view hierarchies (referencing plan),
- - whilst maintaining links between records and access to attachments,
- - by respecting access rights associated with specific user groups,
- - by incorporating elements of the project’s or organisation’s visual identity,
- - by incorporating a map-based view,
- - by adding a basic search engine to the browser.

- 01 /04After having collected and structured the knowledge of the experts in an AKM database, the e-K.book tool deploys knowledge efficiently to the entities, and makes validated knowledge very easily availablePhilippe SIMONETTI - CEA
